It’s Over Again

So Christmas has come and gone again. I am a mixture of relieved, and sad this time of year when the holiday has left us and we have a whole year until it graces us once more.

I had intentions to write a blog post on Christmas Day wishing everyone a happy day, but instead it was spent traveling back home, and then getting home and realizing we had no food in the house and searching all around town trying to find something that was opened. Luckily we found a gas station with a grocery store inside and bought ingredients to make pasta. Yummy Christmas dinner to us.

All that to say, I hope you all had a lovely day hopefully spending time with loved ones. And maybe you stopped to think about Christ on that day who is the reason not just for the season, but for every day.

To Grandmother’s House We Go

These pictures were taken at my Granny’s house. It is one of my favorite places on earth. I went to college only 20 minutes or so away from her so this place became my home away from home. I have missed it terribly the last few months and I’m so thankful my husband and I got to spend time with both of our families this year. We are extremely blessed

And yes, the blonde streak is permanent. A friend of mine did it for me while visiting my home town and I love it. (Thanks Jessica!)

Sweet Sixteen

In case you were wondering, I am still alive and kickin’. I apologize for the long absence. I have been out of town visiting family and also managed to catch a cold and, well, I have just let myself be a little bit lazy. That’s what vacation is for right?

Anyway, while visiting family I had a chance to take a few pictures of my gorgeous (almost) 16 year old sister-in-law and I thought I would share my favorites with you guys

She borrowed an item of clothing in mine in this shoot. Can you guess what it is? You’ll find out in a post coming up soon.

Naughty or Nice

Most of the time, I’m nice. (i.e. trying to take the time to compliment others, rubbing my husbands back for him when he’s sore, calling friends and family just to say hi)

But at times I can be a little naughty. (i.e. refusing to help my husband with things because I’m too lazy, putting myself above others far too often, making mountains out of mole hills and causing others to suffer because of it)

Did you make the nice list this year?

Rainy Day

It was sprinkling on me while taking these pictures, but I was in love with this outfit so I had to take a few pictures of it. This sweater was one of my few Black Friday deals and looking back I wish I would have bought it in every color. It is so comfortable and I think it would look great with some sweater tights also. And I just made my lace up boots more versatile by getting colored laces to switch out. I love it.

I was thinking the other day about how my style has been changing. When I first started this blog I was in a bit more of a ultra girly, sort of preppy stage (see here, and here) But now if I were to define my style I would say it is “thrown together chic”. I have been enjoying putting pieces together that don’t necessarily match or traditionally go together. But I also don’t want to look like my closet just threw up on me, so it it a bit of a balance. The outfit above is a good example of my current fashion fetish.

What is your current style looking like?

My Little Family

I wanted some practice at taking family portraits since I will be taking some of my big family at Christmas time this year, and so I made Nathan and River take a few with me. We couldn’t sit down with River because she wouldn’t sit still and Nathan was done after about 8 shots, but all things considered I think these turned out well.

I hope you all had lovely Thanksgivings and are enjoying the official Christmas season!
