Work Wear

I just got a job working in the afternoons for a daycare. I’ll be filling in for the preschool teacher who is on maternity leave and will eventually be in charge of teaching Bible lessons for all the kids in the center. My major in college was Children’s Ministry so this job is great for me.

The problem is that they require us to wear slacks, closed toed shoes, and a button down/nice blouse. If you have been following my blog you’ve seen that I wear skirts or dresses almost every day. Unfortunately wearing skirts while working with kids isn’t exactly the best choice due to all the bending down you have to do. So this opens up an all new challenge for me.

I chose this outfit for my first day of work. I tried to keep it cute by wearing a shirt with pretty detailing and shiny shoes and belt.

top: thrifted/pants: new york and company/cardigan: old navy/shoes: payless

How do you keep your fashionable while still being business appropriate?

  1. WOW!!! I really really love the color of those pants! I have been looking for a cropped pair of trousers in that exact color… I might just need to purchase these and take them to the tailor! Super cute!!

  4. Congrats on the new job- that does sound perfect for you! And I think this is a great work outfit- I think those constraints would be hard for me too because I’m big on skirts/dresses as well, but you did a great job!

I love the outfit. It’s cute and different (that fab color!) and still seems very you even though pants are involved!
